My last one was manufactored July 18, 2006 and had a Samsung disc drive. I bought it as a refurb though. The number one reason I got fed up with it was because the disc drive was going out. 75% of the time, games would show up as "Play DVD". It also had a weird Unplayable Disc glitch (if you ran game, went to dashboard, and try to run game again, it was ALWAYS an Unplayable Disc). On top of that, Memory Unit Slot A always showed my data was corrupted.

So, I bought a new one today. I bought the most recent one they had on the shelf, which happened to be April 15th of this year. It has a 175W power supply and a BenQ disc drive. It's a lot quieter, but I actually kind of view that as bad. The noise the fan DOES make is a quiet little hum but it drives me insane. Plus, the disc drive noise is a ton more noticeable. I guess I'll get used to it.

I think the microphone in it is broken. If it's plugged into the controller and I move the controller, it makes a static sound. I tested with my other mic and this doesn't happen, so I know it's the mic.

So far though, I've had good luck with the disc drive. With that being said, the only game I tried was Rock Band. Still...

I guess that is about it. I decided to keep my old hard drive with my files on it, mainly because I hate the look of the new one. The new HDD has a gray plastic edge, and it looks stupid. My last one had a chrome edge, and it looks much nicer. I'm having a friend let me borrow his 512MB MU to copy some of the preloaded themes and pics, as well as Hexic (which wasn't on my old HDD).

It's an action game being made by Platinum Games(they used to be SEEDS, who in turn used to be Clover Studios). It's ultraviolent, and stylish. Reminding me a bit of No More Heroes, only more violent. I have high hopes considering that Clover made Viewtiful Joe and Okami, two fantastic games.]]> This game looks awesome so far!
